Biography:
 

Stephen E. Palmer joined fellow Columbus native, Eric J. Yavitch in forming the law firm of Yavitch & Palmer in 1997. Steve focuses his practice on the following areas of law: Criminal Defense; Appellate Practice; White Collar Crime; Driving While Intoxicated; Traffic Violations; Drug Crimes; Felonies; Homicide; Misdemeanors; Parole and Probation; and Sexual Assault. He regularly consults with other attorneys in areas of evidence, trial preparation and appellate practice.

Stephen Palmer is admitted to the Ohio State Bar; the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit; and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Listed in Martindale-Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers comprised of select firms and attorneys who have earned the AV Peer Review Rating, An AV rating shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence, has usually practiced law for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity. Steve earned his AV rating at the uncommon age of 35.

In 1995, Steve earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Capital University. While in law school, Steve began working in the criminal defense field as a clerk for practicing attorneys. He was a member of the Law Review and published an article detailing Ohio's drinking and driving laws.

Steve completed his undergraduate work at the College of Wooster where he participated in varsity football and track. He studied Anglo legal history, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in History.

After earning his law degree, Steve immediately formed his own firm in the field of criminal defense.

Professional organizations to which Steve belongs include the Columbus Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar and the American Bar Association (Member, Criminal Section). He also belongs to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Aside from law, Steve enjoys numerous hobbies, including running, biking, carpentry, and guitar.
